First Impressions
Written by Myra RayGood Design Looks Good. That much is obvious, but good looks are for more than just admiring. You know you have three seconds to make a first impression.
There are Three Things Noticed Subconsciously on the First Impression
1. How much effort has been put into this business?
If the design looks gorgeous and
creative, then one can assume a lot of time has been put into it. We can then
assume that the
same level of care is put into customer service and products. Good design
tells your visitors that you care about your product. Good design at the
front-end suggests that everything is in order at the back-end, whether or not
that is the case. Good design is what separates the best from the "good-enough".
2. How
modern is this business?
This isn't always as crucial, but
it still bears mentioning. We can all recognize older designs a mile off,
whilst good design is in no way limited to the most recent trend, keeping up
the pace will help your image and in turn, tell your customer subconsciously
you keep up with the latest technology.
3. What
is the company's personality?
To the point? Friendly? Business-like?
A good design fits the image of the
company behind it. Your aesthetics are all you have to paint
that initial picture.
From that one glimpse, they make an impression, and then they decide if it's worth their while.
